Our Area and Our Homes

In the last couple of weeks we have been learning all about our local area and how we care for it. We have also learned about different types of homes that people can have.

Pierce's mam came in to talk to us about different types of homes and we even made our own house and decorated all the rooms.

Science Workshop

Before midterm break we had a Science workshop and learned all about gases and forces. We carried out some experiments and even made our own Hovercrafts.

Yesterday we had a great trip to Ardkeen Library to see and even take part in The Tallest Smallest Circus.

The ringmaster needed volunteers and we had some natural performers who started their circus career.

The Senior Infants have started to go over some of the stories we read last year. They can practice at home by using the Starfall website below.

Pattern Game

The infants have been working on patterns this week in maths, particularly the Junior Infants. I have found a great game below that will help practice at home.

Please take any opportunities at home to also explore patterns in the house - wallpaper, flooring, curtains etc.

Friday Art

Today in art we were drawing pictures and we saw what it was like to draw on different surfaces. We drew on the page while at our tables. We also drew on the ground by the hopscotch which was very bumpy. We drew while we were on the astroturf which was "soft" and "squishy" and finally we tried to draw up against the wall in the astroturf but that was very "bumpy and up and down"!
